Man, I can’t believe how fast summer has flown by! With the welcoming of cooler air, pumpkin spice indulgences, boots, scarves and nights spent around the fire, I can honestly say that I’m excited for the fall season to arrive. Summer was crazy busy with everything from starting a new job to moving into our first home, I haven’t had a chance to stop and take in everything.
This fall, my goal is to slow things down, and I mean really slow things down. Take time to “just be.” You know what I mean? I feel like we could all benefit from taking a pause from our busy lives and taking time to relax and recharge the mind, body and soul.
With that said, I have a lot of things I want to accomplish/do this fall.
First off, I want to start reading more. And I’m not talking about a good beach read, or some trending novel. I want to go back to reading the classics, like: Pride and Prejudice, The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls. There’s so many great books out there. I can’t wait to dive in. Do you have a favorite author or book you’d like to reread this fall? Share your readings with me via Instagram with the hashtag #SASBookWorm and tag @BrittanyFEngler in it so I can follow along.
Next up, I want to cook more. And I mean really cook. No more canned or boxed foods. I want to find healthy recipes (I’m kind of on a paleo kick right now) and cook healthy, yet tasty, meals for my husband and I. My relationship with food right now has turned bad again, and so I’ve decided to launch a SAS Embrace Your Beauty campaign. Using the hashtag #SASEmbraceYourBeauty I will share an image of each meal I eat as a way to motivate myself to actually eat what is pictured. With this food problem coming back into play, my self confidence has been a bit low lately as well so I’ve decided to throw in a second part to this campaign. Using the same hashtag I will share one thing I love about myself/my life. I’d love for you guys to do the same. With each others help we can get through this. We can live a truely healthy and happy life if we only allow ourselves too.
Going along the vane of food. I’d like to do a soup tour of Orange County. Finding the best places here in town that serve up a great soup. I’m a sucker for a good soup, especially butternut squash, tomato basil or french onion. Know of any places you’d like to recommend?!
Moving on to more goals for the fall season, let’s talk about needle point. Growing up I used to needlepoint a lot but haven’t picked up a needle in years. Now that we have settled down into our new home, I want to get a bit crafty and make something I can hang up. I’m thinking of something flowery, or something with animals. Haven’t quite decided yet but when I do, I’ll let you know.
Next up is the desire to write more. I’ve been a bit absent in this space so one of my goals is to share posts more consistently. Aside from that though, I want to get back into writing poetry. I used to write a new poem everyday in college as a way to relieve stress and unwind. I miss those days so I’m hoping I can channel my 18 year old self and pick up the pen again.
The fall season is always an exciting time, and I can’t wait to see what this year brings along with it. Do you have any special goals or things you’d like to do this season?
