I love summer. I absolutely love it, and this year I decided I wanted to do something a little extra fun to celebrate the warmer months. The answer? Blue hair! I’ve been obsessed with this pastel, bold colored hair for the past year or so but have been a bit scared to follow through. Would it look good? What would people say? Would it be weird? Honestly I was insecure about it.
A week or so ago, something just clicked.
Since January of this year, I’ve been on a path towards self love. I’ve been focusing on what makes me unique, I’m learning to love my body (bumps, lumps and all), and have worked to embrace what I have to offer the world. I’m no longer ashamed of my quarks and a little over a week ago, I realized that if I want to have blue hair, I should just go for it. After all, I’m doing it for me, not for anyone else, so who cares if it’s not perceived very well?
I’m so glad I decided to take the plunge, and to be true to myself. I haven’t looked back since.
It’s funny what a simple change, like hair color, can do to you. It’s only been a week, but I ever since the lady at Aveda slathered the dye on me, I’ve felt like a weight has been lifted. I’m no longer denying who I am, someone who is a little (or a lot haha) different.
I kind of feel like a mermaid with this new look, and it makes me want to embrace the more carefree side of myself. I’m one who has always been a planner, a worry wart, an anxious Anna, but now I’m trying to not let things get to me so easily. Instead, just enjoy the ride of life and see what happens. It’s a little easier said then done, but so far I’m enjoying the journey.
Do you have something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t moved forward for fear of what others might think? I want to urge you to give in, just do it. You only live once, so you might as well live the life that is true to yourself.
Please share your stories below! I’d love to hear.
Have a fantastic weekend loves.
